How to Connect Your DVR/NVR to Mobile Phone (Online)
Want to view your cameras on your smartphone? Follow these simple steps to connect your DVR to your home internet and configure the mobile app.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Connect the LAN Cable
Plug one end of the Ethernet/LAN cable into the back of your DVR (look for the port with blinking lights). Plug the other end into an empty LAN port on your Wi-Fi router.
Enable DHCP on DVR
Right-click on your DVR screen, go to 'Main Menu' > 'Network' > 'TCP/IP'. Check the box that says 'DHCP' (or 'Obtain IP Automatically'). Click Apply and Save. Restart the DVR if prompted.
Pro Tip
DHCP allows your router to automatically assign a correct IP address to your DVR.
Check P2P / Cloud Status
Go to 'Main Menu' > 'Network' > 'P2P' (or 'InstaOn' / 'Cloud'). Make sure the 'Enable' box is checked. Look at the Status. It should say 'Online'. If it says Offline, double-check your cable connection.
Download the App
On your smartphone, download the official app for your DVR brand. (e.g., gCMOB for CP Plus, Hik-Connect for Hikvision, DMSS for Dahua).
Scan the QR Code
Open the app, click the '+' icon to add a device. Select 'Wired Device' or 'P2P'. Use your phone's camera to scan the Device SN (Serial Number) QR Code displayed on your DVR's P2P screen. Enter your DVR password, and click Save. Your cameras should now be live!
