How to Connect Your DVR/NVR to Mobile Phone (Online)

Want to view your cameras on your smartphone? Follow these simple steps to connect your DVR to your home internet and configure the mobile app.

Connect the LAN Cable

Plug one end of the Ethernet/LAN cable into the back of your DVR (look for the port with blinking lights). Plug the other end into an empty LAN port on your Wi-Fi router.

Enable DHCP on DVR

Right-click on your DVR screen, go to 'Main Menu' > 'Network' > 'TCP/IP'. Check the box that says 'DHCP' (or 'Obtain IP Automatically'). Click Apply and Save. Restart the DVR if prompted.

DHCP allows your router to automatically assign a correct IP address to your DVR.

Check P2P / Cloud Status

Go to 'Main Menu' > 'Network' > 'P2P' (or 'InstaOn' / 'Cloud'). Make sure the 'Enable' box is checked. Look at the Status. It should say 'Online'. If it says Offline, double-check your cable connection.

Download the App

On your smartphone, download the official app for your DVR brand. (e.g., gCMOB for CP Plus, Hik-Connect for Hikvision, DMSS for Dahua).

Scan the QR Code

Open the app, click the '+' icon to add a device. Select 'Wired Device' or 'P2P'. Use your phone's camera to scan the Device SN (Serial Number) QR Code displayed on your DVR's P2P screen. Enter your DVR password, and click Save. Your cameras should now be live!
